Savannah's bday party and first school days

Ok, so maybe I am 2 months behind...but here we go. Savannah was very excited to start 2nd grade. She had picked out her first day shirt several weeks before and was so excited to have Miss Beaton (and be in Ellie's class!!). Her birthday was on Saturday after starting school on monday. She decided to have the neighbor girls over for a sleep over and go to build-a-bear. Really she had been planning this trip to build-a-bear since about Christmas. We all had a great time. It was so fun watching the girls pick out their animals and walking thru the mall was fun too. The sleepover was fun too. Savannah decided to have the girls all sleep together in the basement. She said it was her favorite party ever!!

Christmas in June

For Christmas Mike surprised the kids and Mommy with a trip to Disney!!! It was so fun. All 3 kids loved meeting all of the Disney Characters probably the best of all. Megan LOVED the princesses and the princess castle. Elliott's favorite thing was probably the fireworks followed closely by the airplane ride. Savannah loved the characters and riding all of the rides (especially the ones that scared her the last trip). We were so lucky to have my parents join us to help out and they seemed to enjoy themselves as well!! How could you not watching our three munchkins at Disney!! Oh and may this serve as a reminder for planning our next trip, IT IS HOT IN ORLANDO IN JUNE. :)

The "BIG Race"

What a weekend!! Savannah ran (yes ran) in her first 5k friday night at the Illinois Marathon 5k. She walked a very little bit and finished in an impressive time of 39minutes!! Most importantly she had so much fun and we had a blast watching her. Mike and Andy ran the marathon the next day and I ran the half marathon. All in all we ended up with 10 medals between the 4 of us!! Since Mike, Andy, and I ran the 5k and the big race the next day we each got an extra medal for the I-Challenge. Yes it is all about the bling. Savannah was very excited to wear her medal to school this morning and show her friends!!

Elliott's Baby

The babies are developing their own little personalities for sure. Megan has started going to the "BGP" (big girl potty), although very very irregularly. I think she mostly just likes to wash her hands after and she knows that if she at least sits there for a few minutes I will let her wash her hands. Oh well, it's a start.

Elliott has started proclaiming that he is not a big boy, he is a baby. If only he would stay so sweet an innocent (well at least when he is not bugging his sisters by running off with toys he "borrowed" from them while they were playing with it). I took this picture this morning. Megan loves playing with dolls, but she (of course) loves her hand-me-down dolls not her so cute American Girl Bitty Baby. Elliott though likes to hold "him" while he is watching tv. The doll is definitely not a boy, "she" has a pretty purple outfit on and all. Oh and "her" name is Elliott!!

The kids were so excited that Daddy had to mow the other day. This was Megan and Elliott's first ride on the tractor. How fun!!

Spring Break 2011

We had a great time with the Peterson kids over Savannah's spring break last week. Thinking over the week we packed a lot of stuff into 7 days!! We arrived late Friday night. Saturday was Mike's birthday!! Satuday night the parents went on a fantastic birthday date to the Angus Barn for the California Wine Dinner (yummo). On Sunday Mike and Andy went on a long run. They are both training for the Illinois Marathon the last day of April (I am doing the half marathon). The kids had a great time playing in the morning then we headed to Monkey Joe's ("bouncing place" as Megan calls it) in the afternoon. The big kids (Grant and Savannah) were completely wiped. The rest of the week was filled with museums (Raleigh's Natural Science Museum and Durham's Science/kids museum), shopping, eating, and playing. We had such a great time, thanks again Petersons!!

The first 3 pictures were taken on our way home from their house at the Winston-Salem Children's Museum (which was very cool). There was a great Krispy Kreme donut exhibit. The lone picture of all of the kids facing forward was taken at REI, go figure. We heart REI and there are 3 stores in Raleigh. We had to visit each one of course. The picture of Sarah and Megan was taken at the Durham museum that has an awesome outdoor dinosaur bone digging pit. The kids could have played in that pit all day. Savannah and Grant are posing outside of the goat and cow exhibit.

These pictures were actually taken about a month ago...oops. But, since I haven't posted any pics lately thought I would. The first 2 pics were taken one random morning. I had the camera and told Megan to give Elliott a big hug. She did and boy isn't it adorable. Then Savannah wanted in the "game". That picture may be my favorite ever (even though the quality isn't that great and Savannah was sort of blinking). The other few were taken on a recent visit to the Children's Museum in Indianapolis with Nana and Grandpa Smith.
As far as what is new with the kids: Savannah lost her first tooth. She was so excited for the tooth fairy. She added her tooth fairy money to her allowance money and bought a new DS game. I think she would play video games all day if we let her (reminds me of her father!!) She has started an after school art class this week. One of her friends from school is taking it too and she seemed to really enjoy the first class. She cannot possibly wait for our upcoming visits with Grant. I think she is also excited to see the rest of his family, but mostly Grant. We are headed to Raleigh for Spring Break.
Megan and Elliott had their two year appt a few weeks ago. Yes I know they were 2 a while ago, but we switched insurances/etc. Anyhow, Megan is one inch taller than E. She is on the 90th percentile for ht and Elliott is about the 50th. They both weigh exactly the same, 30.5 pounds.
THe twins new favorite thing to do is "talk" on the phone. Elliott never says much back, but he always says "mama me talkey too" everytime he is around and I am on the phone. Megan does talk back, but usually just "hi, bye, and I Yuv You" which is adorable.

Mommy Savannah Date

Today I took Savannah to a Miami Women's Basketball game. She has been to 2 games this season, which makes her a big fan!! This one was geared towards kids and featured games, free food and tshirt, and face painting. Savannah really enjoyed watching the game. She was lucky enough to see her Miami cheerleader friend who was her student teacher last semester (as well as the RedHawk).

Christmas 2010

What a Christmas!! We have so much to be thankful for. This year we got to go to Nana and Grandpa's house before Christmas, Grandma and Poopa's after Christmas and Santa was thankfully able to find us at our house on Christmas Eve.
Highlights for each of the kids were: Elliott- He loves his train table from Nana and Grandpa (he gets to share it with his sisters), lots of trucks and other vehicles, and of course the vacuum. It was hilarious on Christmas morning he was so happy with his vacuum he had absolutely no interest in opening any other gifts!!
Megan also loves the train table (aka choo-choo table). She also loved her new princesses, babies, and her yo gabba gabba toys.
Savannah is in love with her new dog pillow pet. Also she loves all the new board games she got as well as her Nintendo DS. Daddy also suprised us with a trip to Disney World in June that Savannah was very excited about (as was Mommy!!).
